Sasol International Chemicals is a business of Sasol Limited and manages its Northern Hemisphere chemicals business, its people, and its stakeholders, with end-to-end accountability for safe operations, profit and loss, technology and innovation, and delivering sustainable solutions for our customers.
Sasol International Chemicals maintains a strong, diversified global presence with assets geographically positioned to meet key customer demands. The International Chemicals business consists of four business divisions to serve multiple markets: Advanced Materials, Base Chemicals, Care Chemicals and Technical Formulations.
Advanced Materials
The Advanced Materials business division is one of the world’s leading producers of high-purity and ultra-high-purity aluminas, including doped aluminas and mixed oxides for high performance in catalysts for refinery, chemical, emissions control and circular economy applications, among others. High-purity aluminas suit a broad range of applications including high-performance abrasives, performance additives, lighting and bio-ceramic materials for medical prosthetics. Proprietary, state-of-the-art technology and scientific expertise gives Sasol meticulous control over the physical and chemical properties of its aluminas, enabling the formulation of specialty products to meet a wide range of customer needs.
Base Chemicals
The Base Chemicals business division consists of a diverse global portfolio of commodity chemicals, including ethylene and ethylene glycol value chains, that play a crucial role in enhancing well-being and productivity. Sasol’s expansive range of materials serve as the foundational building blocks for a multitude of products spanning applications in agriculture, the construction and industrial sectors, packaging, medical and personal care, and beyond.

Care Chemicals
The Care Chemicals business division is a market leader in the production and commercialization of surfactants and surfactant intermediates targeting three distinct markets: fabric and home care; industrial and institutional cleaning; and personal care, health and wellness.
As one of the world’s largest manufacturers of surfactants, Sasol’s large-scale integrated value chains, market knowledge, unique chemistry and innovation, and global presence provide unmatched value to customers in search of high-performance product and formulation solutions. The division’s product portfolio consists of a wide variety of surfactants, surfactant intermediates, biosurfactants, fatty alcohols and linear alkyl benzene, and includes responsibly sourced, sustainable raw materials such as synthetic, palm-free, natural renewable and/or low carbon footprint.Technical Formulations
The Technical Formulations business division offers converters and formulators in industrial markets an extensive range of high-performance functional raw materials, additives, components and unique solutions. Products from Sasol’s alcohol, surfactants, alkylates and derivatives portfolio, supported by innovative application technical support, bring high performance to industrial processes as well as raw materials for the production of industrial goods used as emulsifiers, foamers, defoamers, inhibitors, dispersants, solvents, carriers, cleaning agents, spacer fluids, wetting agents, viscosity modifiers, plasticizers, flavours, fragrances, pour point depressants and much more.
