GreenYellow Italia, an international player in the field of energy transition, and Sasol Italy, inaugurated the start of construction work on a new solar photovoltaic power plant in the municipality of Terranova dei Passerini, in the province of Lodi. The project represents a significant step in the company's strategy towards a more sustainable and independent energy supply.
The plant will be located on land owned by Sasol Italy, will have a total installed capacity of 5.1 MWp, and will be built under an on-site power purchase agreement (PPA), whereby Sasol Italy—by purchasing and managing the balance of the energy produced—will benefit from favorable and more stable economic conditions over time. Commissioning is scheduled for the second half of 2026 and, at full capacity, the site will guarantee an annual production of approximately 7.61 GWh. In environmental terms, the project will avoid over 4,000 tons of CO₂ per year, equivalent to the average consumption of more than 2,800 households. The company EEMAXX INNOVATION has also contributed to the development of the project since its inception, dealing in particular with the authorization process that is making it possible to start construction.
“This project,” emphasizes Sebastiano Durante, Sasol Italy’s Senior Manager Strategic Sourcing Energy & Emissions, “marks another significant step in our energy transition journey and confirms our desire to collaborate with partners such as GreenYellow to implement our strategy for sustainability at Sasol Italy and achieve our goal of reducing emissions at our Italian industrial sites.”
Rolando Furlong, General Manager for GreenYellow Europe, was also present in Italy for the start of the works. He emphasizes: "This project perfectly embodies our vision: to make the energy transition accessible and sustainable for businesses. Italy is a strategic market for us in Europe, and this project is a concrete demonstration of our determination to accelerate the energy transition of Italian companies. By collaborating with partners such as Sasol, we are making a tangible contribution to the decarbonization of the industrial sector and the construction of a more resilient energy future."
