Polymer additives from Sasol Chemicals make plastics stronger, more flexible, improving processing and more sustainable.

Sasol’s Polymer Additives portfolio is comprehensive and versatile, providing product benefits to companies across a wide range of industries, including automotive, building and construction, telecommunications, agriculture and more. Our Polymer Additives are used in PVC piping and profiles, injection molding, plasticiser manufacturing, polymer nanocomposites and multiple other vital products.

Sasol Polymer Additives help manufacturing companies achieve:

  • Overall efficiency improvement and material savings
  • Faster extrusion rates
  • Lower pressures and energy consumption
  • More consistent impact, flexural and tensile properties
  • Up to 30% reduction in electricity consumption, according customer data

Our lineup includes:

Wax-based Polymer Additives/EnHance

Sasol Chemicals’ proprietary Fischer-Tropsch waxes offer best-in-class lubrication characteristics to improve the manufacturing sustainability of PVC pipes and profiles.

Compared to PE and paraffin waxes, Fischer-Tropsch waxes are highly efficient in PVC applications and can help to significantly reduce wax consumption according to customer data. That means higher output rates, reduced energy input and high-quality PVC products with consistent physical properties and an extended lifetime.

Sasol’s EnHance polymer processing aid – based on Fischer-Tropsch technology – can significantly improve important production parameters of polyolefin tapes, raffia, strapping and monofilaments manufacturers. EnHance reduces melt viscosity and resulting pressures, which enables plastic to be processed at lower temperatures with less energy required, based on customer data.

Alcohol-based PAs/LINPLAST

Plasticisers are used to convert hard and brittle PVC into a soft and flexible material that can be processed under a wide range of temperatures.

Sasol’s LINPLAST line of plasticisers is derived from a unique alcohol portfolio, leading to high-performing PAs that deliver unmatched performance and reduced processing costs.

LINPLAST additives offer low VOC emissions, excellent cold temperature flexibility, exceptional temperature stability and weathering/UV resistance and stability.

Sasol’s linear ALFOL alcohols, which are produced via the Ziegler process, are used in premium plasticisers to enable more energy-efficient processing and the elimination of diluents. They also have an outstanding application profile in automotive and wiring/cable applications, including excellent low-temperature properties, high thermal stability and reduced emissions over the entire lifecycle.

High purity aluminas

Sasol’s DISPAL/DISPERAL aluminas play a pivotal role in advancing polymer nanocomposites by meeting the demand for lightweight and durable polymers with high strength.

Our aluminas are essential ingredients for crafting ceramic/polymer nanocomposites, with applications spanning catalyst carriers, biological implants, LED lighting and many more.

Sasol’s aluminas elevate properties such as crystallinity, permeability, printability and static dissipation and can be seamlessly compounded with both common plastics and polymers such as PET, PP, PE, PTFE, PVC and PS.
