Scholarship program builds on a decade of investment in local education

 

Lake Charles, La. - Sasol has awarded $100,000 in scholarships to 10 high school seniors graduating from Calcasieu Parish School Board (CPSB) high schools through the Sasol Scholars Program.  Students will receive $2,500 annually to assist with educational expenses, in addition to opportunities to network with professionals, tour Sasol's operations and receive special consideration for Sasol internship and recruitment activities.

 

The Sasol Scholars Program supports graduating seniors at Sasol partner schools who are pursuing two- or four-year degrees. Participants in the 2024 Sasol Scholars cohort include:


Neveah Barrier, Sulphur High School

Courtney Bush, Sulphur High School

Daylin Brown, Washington-Marion Magnet High School

Landon Guidry, Westlake High School

Janey Mueller, Sam Houston High School

Gregor Nolan, Alfred M. Barbe High School

Nicholas Porter, Sulphur High School

Amanda Sanders, Sam Houston High School

Austin Stroderd, Sulphur High School

Unique Thomas, Washington-Marion Magnet High School

 

"The Sasol Scholars Program puts high school graduates on a path to long-term success by helping with the cost of pursuing higher education, introducing students to career options they may not have known about before and preparing them to enter the workforce," CPSB Superintendent Dr. Shannon LaFargue said.

 

The Sasol Scholars Program builds on the company's commitment to meaningful community investment and helping local students achieve success. Sasol's education programs support students at each step of their journey from classroom to career, beginning with mentorship of elementary students through its Partners in Education program and extending through college and career preparation.
