FT CATALYST
Our Cobalt Fischer-Tropsch (FT) catalysts are mainly used in GTL facilities that employ Sasol’s proprietary FT technology but are also used in other third-party FT technologies.
These catalysts are based on a novel alumina support supplied by our Alumina sub-division. The Fischer-Tropsch process is agnostic to the source of the syngas and for this can be easily adapted from GTL to PTL and BTL (or even Waste-to-Liquid) processes.
Sasol Chemicals’ next generation Co-FT catalyst is a key enabler for the production of carbon-neutral aviation fuel. Renewable electricity sources are used to generate hydrogen that is combined with carbon dioxide extracted from the off-gas of a biogas plant as well as via direct air capture to produce syngas that is converted to e-crude and then refined into SAF.
Our latest generation catalyst offers a novel technology foundation for future sustainable fuels production via Power-to-Liquid applications.
