Over the last decade, there is a significant and lasting rise of silicone-free claims, triggered by consumer awareness about their persistence  and bioaccumulation potential as well as consistently increasing regulatory pressure. As a result, most formulators seek for alternatives to highly volatile silicone oils like cyclopentasiloxane (D5), dimethicone (L4), or trisiloxane (L3). While most alternative technologies like isododecane (IDD) are often based on petrochemical feedstocks, Sasol´s fully biobased PARAFOL 10 RSPO-MB (INCI: Decane) combines very high volatility with excellent spreadability. This talk will provide an overview about th PARAFOL range of biobased alkanes, including their physicochemical properties and application performance.
