The Culture Club was the brainchild of one of our senior vice presidents, and I was excited to volunteer as part of the forming committee. Our goal is to bring everyone together outside of the work environment based on our shared interests. We try to recreate a normal day but with colleagues, engaging in activities that we all enjoy. For example, we might go to a jazz club for an evening or organise a group run together. We’ve even tried stand-up paddling! The best part is that whatever you’re interested in, you can find others who share that passion. Through the Culture Club, I’ve personally been introduced to many new hobbies. It has also allowed me to meet many great people, fostering a sense of community within our workplace. Overall, it’s been a fantastic way to connect with my colleagues and explore new interests together.

In my experience, no other internship or co-op has invested in my career as deeply and personally as Sasol did. Sasol treated everyone exceptionally and went well beyond what I consider standard or even reasonable. Their commitment to investing in us early on has been incredibly beneficial for my career and will continue to be in the future. After returning for a full-time position, Sasol has continued to support my knowledge and education. The more they invest in their people, the greater the return they will see, which is a quality that sets Sasol apart.

When I joined Sasol, the situation was a bit challenging. One of my sales managers was ill, and the other position was vacant, so I found myself working alone in Europe. It was a lot to handle at first. But during that time, one of my colleagues from South Africa came to Hamburg to support me for about four to six weeks. His presence made a huge difference, not just in helping me settle into Sasol but also in guiding me through our business. While he was also new to the European market, his deep knowledge of our products and the company was invaluable. I really appreciated that he came all the way from South Africa just to help me. It was awesome to see that level of support and commitment from a colleague.

During my apprenticeship at Sasol, I rotated through many different departments and met a lot of people. What left a lasting impression on me was the warm atmosphere and the feeling of being welcome everywhere I went. No matter which department I was in, I was always greeted warmly, and I could tell that people genuinely made an effort to teach me and give me a deep understanding of the tasks.
It was a great way for me to learn about everything and contribute as much as possible in various areas. Of course, there were departments where I couldn’t do everything due to certain restrictions, but even there, my colleagues took the time to explain things and support me. There was always someone open to questions, which made me feel well-integrated and supported in every department.
All in all, it was a great experience to gain valuable insights into so many areas and feel like everyone was dedicated to ensuring I had the best possible apprenticeship experience. 

I appreciate the unrestrictive, flexible environment at Sasol that allows me to drive initiatives in my own way. The full support from management and upper leadership empowers me with complete accountability in a dynamic setting. For me, it’s crucial that a company isn’t stagnant; constant change, new advantages, and fresh challenges are necessary. And this is exactly what Sasol offers me.
