We are a leading producer of alpha-olefins, notably 1-octene, 1-hexene, and 1-pentene used as comonomers in polyethylene and polyolefin elastomers. Additionally, our acrylic- acids and monomers are used in various water soluble- and emulsion-based polymers and elastomers. Our paraffins are used to produce chlorinated paraffins plasticisers for use in the formulation of PVC compounds.

ALPHA-OLEFINS
Alpha-Olefins are chemical intermediates used in the production of linear low density and high-density polyethylene, polyalphaolefins (PAO) as well as elastomers and plastomers.
ACRYLIC ACIDS AND ACRYLATE ESTERS
Sasol Chemicals' ACRYLIC ACID ESTERS (butyl- and ethyl acrylate) are commonly used as monomers to in the production of elstomers and waterborne emulsion polymers for coatings and adhesives. Glacial acrylic acid is used in the production of water-soluble polymers.
N-PARAFFINS
Sasol's range of N-PARAFFINS are utilised as intermediate feedstock in the production of chlorinated paraffins, commonly used as plasticizers for polyvinyl chloride compounds.
C4 ALCOHOLS
Sasol is a fully integrated producer of C4 oxo-alcohols from propylene that is produced via the Fischer Tropsch Process. Sasol also produces some industrial grade C4 ALCOHOLS that is refined from the purification of the solvents stream from the Fischer Tropsch process.
