ACRYLIC ACIDS AND ACRYLATE ESTERS
ACRYLIC ACID is used as an intermediate in the production of ACRYLATE ESTERS and polyacrylic acid copolymers (super absorbent polymers). Acrylates find application in coatings and adhesives or as comonomers in acrylic elastomers. For coatings acrylates are used in waterborne acrylic emulsions, they provide good resistance to moisture and chemicals, good wetting, film durability and versatility. For adhesives acrylics provide excellent temperature, UV and oxidation resistance. Acrylics bond well to polar surfaces like metal, glass, polyesters and polycarbonates, and have high peel, tack, and shear.
