Sasol is a global leader in the production of linear and branched oxo alcohols, offering a comprehensive portfolio manufactured at our Augusta (Italy) facility. Our LIAL, ALCHEM, and ISALCHEM alcohols are produced via hydroformylation and hydrogenation of n-olefins, ensuring inherently deforestation-free products with reliable, consistent lead times for European customers.

Technical performance
- Customised branching: Select grades with branching levels from 5% to 95% for precise fine-tuning of product properties.
- Surface wetting: Branching enhances wetting; ISALCHEM and LIAL are preferred for applications requiring solid surface wetting, especially aluminium.
- Solubility: Branching improves solubility in oils, enhancing stability at low temperatures. Highly miscible with Group II–V base oils.
- Raw materials for synthetic esters: Plasticizers esters suitable for PVC production where linear alcohols offer better flexibility at low temperature while branching enhances mechanical properties. Polymeric esters to be used as Viscosity Index Improvers. Emollients for leave-on and rinse-off cosmetic products.
- Co-emulsifiers: Effective in stabilising emulsifiable and semi-synthetic formulations for metalworking.
